Directions for Residential Use
Superchlorinate the pool every seven days or whenever the combined chlorine level is above 0.5 ppm (mg/L). Combined chlorine is the difference between total and free chlorine as measured by a suitable test kit. One (1) lb. of product will raise the chlorine level by 4 ppm for a 10,000 gallon pool.
Before treating the pool, it must be chemically balanced. The pH must be adjusted to 7.4 - 7.6. The alkalinity and calcium hardness must also be measured to ensure that they are in proper range.
FOR WHITE PLASTER POOLS ONLY, broadcast this product directly into circulating pool water using 1 pound per 10,000 gallons of water. To prevent damage to the pool surface, use a pool brush to disperse any granules that may have settled to the bottom of your pool. Do not allow undissolved product to rest in contact with bleachable pool surfaces.
FOR VINYL, FIBERGLASS, PAINTED, AND ALL COLORED PLASTER POOLS, pre-dissolve the recommended dose of this product for all other pools. Use one (1) lb. to treat each 10,000 gallons of pool water. To pre-dissolve, add up to 1 lb of this product to three (3) gallons of water in a clean bucket outdoors, stirring with a clean plastic or wooden spoon. Pour the pre-dissolved treatment dose into the water around the edges of the pool.
IMPORTANT: Remember that shock must be added to water. NEVER add water to any dry product. Do not mix more than one (1) lb. per three (3) gallons of water at a time. Do not add any other chemicals or products to the solution in this bucket when pre-dissolving.
