A salt system works by creating chlorine from ordinary salt. When you think salt water in a pool it’s not like the water you find at the ocean as the salt content is very low and not noticeable like it is while at the beach. The chlorination process only requires a small amount of salt at a time equating to one teaspoon for every gallon of water. This simple recipe, combined with electrolysis, creates a supply of chlorine that’s basically endless. Salt systems are friendly to the environment and this specific model produces enough chlorine daily to keep the water optimized in a pool containing up to 25,000 gallons of water.

Aqua Rite has two components making up its system. The first is the control box and the second is the patented Turbo Cell. The cell is installed on the return line of the pool system behind the pump, filter, and heater. The way that it works is water passes through the cell and an electrical charge generated from the control box converts the dissolved salt into chlorine through an electrolytic process. The water is then sent back to the pool through the return line and gets mixed. Each time that the water is recirculated this process happens again thus ensuring that the pool water has chlorine at the needed levels.

Turbo Cells from Hayward are available in three different sizes including 15K, 25K, and 40K gallons. They are offered this way to make sure that you have the correct sized salt chlorination for your pool. Multiple sizes give you the most cost-effective chlorination possible but it’s also advised to upsize where possible to extend product lifecycle and also to retain the ability to super chlorinate the system if needed.
